Consumer Unit Upgraded
Posted on May 26th, 2014
One of our jobs this week was to upgrade an old fuseboard in a house in Southampton which had an old re-wireable fuses.
Modern consumer units contain a RCD (Residual Current Device) or RCBOs (Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent). RCD/RCBOs protect you from a lethal electric shock. If you do not have a RCD or RCBOs in your consumer unit and you receive an electric shock the power may not disconnect resulting in a potential fatality.
Have a look at the images below. Does you consumer unit contain either a RCD or RCBOs? If you have an old re-wireable fuseboard similar to the bottom image then it is probably time to upgrade to a modern consumer unit. If you want your consumer unit upgraded we can do this for you and it is generally completed within a day.

This can be caused by various faults within the home. Precautions can be taken to minimise the risk by having a full electrical test completed.
AJH Electricians covers the Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester areas and would be happy to provide a free quotation.

New Kitchen in Bishops Waltham
Posted on May 17th, 2014
Renovation started this week on a home in Bishops Waltham. The old kitchen and floor tiles were removed and work commenced on relocating electrics for the new kitchen layout. The old halogen downlights have been replaced with LEDs to take advantage of their lower running costs. The old plasterboard walls have also been replaced and decorating has commenced.
Well the new kitchen is in and looking great. What a treat to have a modern kitchen with clean lines and easy clean surfaces. The additional LED lights over the work area and sink have proved a good choice, providing plenty of light to work by.
